RCIM was born out of the desire of a few Rotarians to have a Club in their own city rather than have to travel to Rawalpindi to attend meetings. Thus a new Club, Rotary Club of Islamabad (Metropolitan) was chartered on the 26th of March, 1987. Rtn. Perry N. Sheikh was the Charter President.

Ever since, the Club has proved its worth within the community and in Rotary International.

With its vision and values attuned to the mission of Rotary International, RCIM has delivered to the community through a variety of projects over the years. It is a 100% PHF Club along with many other accolades, all due to the enduring strength and spirit of its members.
